Lazy cabbage rolls stewed in a frying pan

It takes a lot of time to prepare classic cabbage rolls, since each ingredient requires separate preparation, and the process of wrapping the minced meat in cabbage leaves is not quick. Fortunately, there is a simplified method - the so-called recipe for lazy cabbage rolls. Of course, their taste is slightly different, but the time saved on cooking makes it worth it.

The ingredients for lazy cabbage rolls with rice are the same as for traditional ones - rice, minced meat, cabbage, onions and carrots. But we will prepare them a little differently.

Ingredients for the dish “Lazy cabbage rolls stewed in a frying pan”:

  • - rice – 0.5 tbsp.;
  • - minced meat – 1 tbsp.;
  • - onion – 1 pc.;
  • - carrots – 1 pc.;
  • - cabbage – 3 – 4 leaves or a quarter of a small head of cabbage;
  • - pork fat – 1 tbsp. l.;
  • - tomato paste – 1-2 tbsp. l.;
  • - bay leaf – 1 pc.;
  • - salt pepper.

How to cook lazy cabbage rolls stewed in a frying pan:

In the “lazy” version, all the components of cabbage rolls are taken raw. If you have a little more time, you can first boil the rice until half cooked, and fry the onions and carrots a little in vegetable oil or pork fat.

We cut the cabbage into pieces (not necessarily small ones), the onion into half rings, and grate the carrots.

Mix all ingredients, salt and pepper. You can cook cabbage rolls either in the oven or in a frying pan. The first option is tastier, the second is faster.

Transfer the mixture into a frying pan, add a spoonful of pork fat, tomato paste and bay leaf on top.

Fill halfway with water and simmer on low heat with the lid on. When almost all the liquid has evaporated, mix the cabbage rolls well and bring to readiness without a lid.

You can serve lazy cabbage rolls as an independent dish, since they have both a meat part and a “side dish” of cabbage and rice. Bon appetit!

They are a product of lazy evolution, and are very reminiscent of a mixture of cutlets and meatballs that are familiar to everyone.

How to cook delicious lazy cabbage rolls with cabbage and minced meat

Cooking delicious, juicy and aromatic cabbage rolls contains a lot of different points, conventions and rules.

  1. Never be afraid to experiment with minced meat. As long as you stick to the basics, you can add whatever you want to it. But you shouldn’t go beyond the bounds of sanity.
  2. Combine different foods and try a variety of supplements. Would you like to mix carrots into the minced meat? Stir it in. Do you want an unusual spice or spice? Please. What about replacing classic ingredients? For example, replace white rice with wild rice, and white cabbage with Chinese cabbage? And you can do this too.
  3. If you want to try all the “formulas” of minced meat, then simply make a large portion of regular minced meat, divide it into parts according to the number of variations planned, and mix each part according to your desire. This way you can select a recipe to suit your taste in one go, without spending a lot of time.
  4. Using a variety of sauces and gravies, you can achieve a unique taste, even if the minced meat is the same over and over again. Try sweet and sour, spicy, tomato, broth-based and other sauces.
  5. For minced meat, use mostly fatty meat, but no frills. Fatty tissue will make the cabbage rolls dense, elastic and allow them to keep their shape. If such meat is unavailable or has insufficient fat content, you can use half-smoked bacon. It will add fat and an unusual taste.
  6. Use different cooking techniques. Stew, boil, bake, combine. This approach will allow you to diversify even the most boring and boring recipe.
  7. Try to cut the vegetables and other ingredients mixed into the minced meat as finely as possible. This will protect the dish from falling apart.
  8. There is no need to painstakingly cut cabbage or carrots. It is enough to grate them on a coarse grater and then send them into minced meat. This trick will also work with onions, which in large form are not particularly welcome in such dishes.
  9. When preparing a sauce or filling, do not be afraid to use semi-finished products and ready-made, store-bought sauces.
  10. Use a vegetable bed when using a frying pan or thin-walled saucepan. Let the vegetables burn better than the cabbage rolls. Use carrot slices, onions or cabbage leaves as bedding.

Recipe for lazy cabbage rolls with cabbage and minced meat in a frying pan

It’s not for nothing that a frying pan is called the most universal item in the kitchen. It will allow you to create a golden brown crust and subsequently simmer any dish. Just add water, as they say.

Option one – Stuffed cabbage rolls in a frying pan with sour cream sauce

Ingredients:

  • Chopped pork – 0.5 kg
  • Used cabbage – 0.35 kg
  • Boiled rice – 150 g
  • R-th onion – 70 g
  • Chicken egg - one piece.
  • Sour cream 20% – 100 ml
  • Tomato paste – 50 ml
  • Oil r-e – 50 ml
  • Breadcrumbs – 200 gr
  • Salt, spices as desired

Finely chop the cabbage, place it in a deep bowl and pour boiling water over it. After 5-7 minutes, drain it in a colander. Set aside a couple of large sheets for a “pillow”.

Stir the cooled cabbage into the pork, along with boiled rice, egg and spices. Using a grater, grate a medium onion into minced meat.

Stir the minced meat to “squeeze” the air out of it. Form the cabbage rolls into oblong cutlets or meatballs.

Heat a frying pan, place cabbage rolls on it and fry until golden brown. Remove them from the pan, reduce the heat and add cabbage leaves.

After adding a little water, return the cabbage rolls to the heat, covering with a lid. After 15 minutes of simmering, add the sauce from a mixture of tomato paste, sour cream and spices. Turn the heat to low and cook for another 12-15 minutes.

Option two - Lazy cabbage rolls with white sauce

Ingredients:

  • Chopped beef and pork 1/1 – 0.45 kg each
  • Used cabbage – 0.8 kg
  • Boiled rice – 0.3 kg
  • Chicken egg - one piece.
  • Onions – 130 gr
  • Full-fat milk – one and a half glasses
  • C oil – 40 g
  • Carrots – 60 gr
  • R-e oil – 50 ml
  • Breadcrumbs – 250 grams
  • Spices, salt as desired

To speed up the process, pass the meat, cabbage and one onion in a meat grinder. Add the egg and spices to the resulting mixture. Mix the minced meat thoroughly, divide into equal portions and form cabbage rolls. Don't forget to bread them in breadcrumbs.

For the sauce, you need to make a “wet” flour sauté with butter. Melt the butter in a dry frying pan and add flour little by little, stirring constantly. Do not allow the flour to form lumps or burn. It should take on a light creamy tint.

Pour milk into the sauteed flour, heat it and add chopped onions and carrots. Boil the sauce until slightly thick.

Place the cabbage rolls on a bed of cabbage leaves. Pour sauce over everything on top. Stew the cabbage rolls according to this recipe for twenty minutes. If necessary, dilute the sauce with milk. However, with medium heat, there should be no problem with it thickening too much.

Serve the finished cabbage rolls of both the first and second versions as an independent dish, with a light vegetable garnish.

The filling for cabbage rolls is easy to prepare. Mix sour cream, tomato paste and adjika. Pour the resulting sauce over the cabbage rolls and place on the stove over medium heat. Cook with the lid closed for 40-45 minutes.

Layered lazy cabbage rolls are similar to lasagna, where cabbage leaves are used instead of sheets of dough. The filling also includes cabbage, finely chopped. For layers, you can use white cabbage, as well as Beijing cabbage. Stuffed cabbage casserole is being prepared in the oven.

Ingredients:

  • Cabbage - 0.5 kg
  • Chopped pork – 0.5 kg
  • Onions – 100 gr
  • Rice – 80 g
  • Bell pepper – 100 gr
  • Tomatoes – 50 gr

Chop the small leaves as finely as possible and combine with the minced meat.

In a frying pan, fry the onion, bell pepper and tomato slices. The finished roasting is determined by the softness of the pepper.

Take a deep pan, grease it with ghee and cover the bottom with cabbage leaves. Place a centimeter layer of minced meat on top of them. Grease it with sour cream and cover with scalded leaves. Repeat layers according to the amount of filling. The number of layers depends on the size of the form.

Seal the top layer with a cabbage leaf and brush with sour cream. Bake for forty minutes at 180 degrees.

Serve with cold cream sauce or sour cream.
