Lavash roll with chicken

Very few people know that if you properly prepare a lavash roll at home, it can be served equally tasty - both hot and cold. The simplicity of the dish is determined by the use of very low-calorie, but nourishing and tasty products, which are usually found in the kitchen of every housewife.

The classic recipe is based on chicken fillet, but you can harmoniously combine this type of meat with any vegetables, cheeses and sauces for filling the roll.

Boil the chicken in slightly salted water until tender, without cutting into too small pieces so as not to lose the juice.

You should also set the eggs to hard boil. At this time, you can grate the cheese finely, chop the onions and peppers.

Grind the boiled fillet using a blender or tear it into small threads and pieces with your hands. Peel the eggs and grate them. In one deep container, mix onions, peppers, eggs, cheese, chicken, mayonnaise.

Spread a sheet of pita bread and spread the meat filling evenly on it. Roll it up, wrap it in foil and leave it in a cool place for two hours.

  • thin pita bread – 2 pcs.;
  • processed cheese – 200 g;
  • smoked chicken breast – 250 g;
  • mayonnaise – 100 g;
  • Korean carrots – 150 g.

It will take half an hour to prepare the roll. The calorie content of 100 grams of food is 193 kcal.

To make a roll using pita bread, you will first need to prepare the ingredients for the filling. Processed cheese is grated on a fine grater, chicken is cut into thin slices, and Korean carrots that are too long are cut into pieces on average three centimeters long.

The first pita bread needs to be spread and greased with half of the mayonnaise taken along the entire perimeter. Place grated cheese on top, and then cover with another sheet of lavash. Press the layers of them tightly together to “glue” them together. Next, lay out the rest of the mayonnaise, spread evenly over the entire surface, then sprinkle the carrots and lay out the smoked chicken. Carefully and tightly roll the roll, being careful not to tear the pita bread.

If the dish needs to be stored for some time before guests arrive, it should be wrapped in cling film, and if not, then you can cut it into pieces two centimeters wide, garnish with herbs, and serve.

  • Armenian lavash – 2 pcs.;
  • hard cheese – 100 g;
  • chicken breast – 400 g;
  • pickled mushrooms – 300 g;
  • onion – 100 g;
  • mayonnaise – 150 g.

The time it takes to prepare is half an hour, and the energy value is only 162 kcal per 100 grams of roll.

To fill the roll, you should prepare the ingredients. Boil the whole meat in slightly salted water and then chop it. Thinly slice the mushrooms, grate the cheese coarsely, peel the onion and chop finely.

How to bake a roll in the oven

A baked roll made using lavash will help decorate the table of any festive event. Its preparation will not take much time, and the delicious and healthy products chosen for the filling will add sophistication to the dish.

It can be fresh vegetables and seafood, but since the classic recipe involves the use of chicken, cheese and herbs, to create the roll you will need:

  • chicken fillet – 400 g;
  • mayonnaise – 300 g;
  • fresh mushrooms – 300 g;
  • lavash (thin sheet) – 1 pc. (180 g);
  • onion – 100 g;
  • butter – 30 g;
  • egg – 1 pc.;
  • cheese (hard variety) – 250 g;

It will take no more than one hour to cook, and as many as 226 kcal will be in one hundred grams of a tasty and satisfying dish.

To prepare the filling, select the mushrooms and cut the onion into cubes of the same size, approximately half a centimeter in size. Then fry them in oil until cooked and cool. Boil the chicken, finely chop or tear into strings, and grind in a blender. Grind the cheese on a fine grater.

Spread the pita bread on a flat work surface with a thin layer of mayonnaise and sprinkle evenly with chicken meat. Then make a grid of mayonnaise on the surface of the meat, lay out fried mushrooms and onions, and the next layer will be cheese.

Afterwards, roll the pita bread into a roll, preferably very carefully so as not to tear the sheet, but as tightly as possible. Beat the egg, mix with one spoon of mayonnaise, grease the surface of the roll with this mixture, which should be placed on a baking tray lined with baking paper.

The calorie content of a dish directly depends on the selected products, so to reduce it, you can choose dietary mayonnaise and add fresh vegetables. And no matter how much you would like not to resort to advice on preparing a roll, you should still remember that:

  1. Any products must be finely chopped - the sheet of pita bread, which should be chosen thin for quick soaking, will not tear;
  2. For the dish, take a hard or semi-hard cheese - it will melt faster when served hot, but to “glue” several layers of pita bread, you should choose processed or cream cheese;
  3. There is no need to lay out a large number of cucumbers and tomatoes when filling - they will release juice, and the roll will burst and fall apart;
  4. There is no need to use mayonnaise for a real roll - it is better to quickly prepare sour cream sauce (buy Bechamel sauce), which will well permeate the dish with its aroma.

  • lettuce – 1 piece;
  • mayonnaise – 200 ml;
  • garlic - 1 clove.

Recipe for making lavash roll with smoked chicken, vegetables and herbs:

Remove skin and any bones from chicken breast. Tear the meat into large long fibers or cut with a knife.

Place the chicken in a deep plate, add 3 tbsp. l. mayonnaise and garlic passed through a garlic press. To stir thoroughly.

Since there are a large number of lavash manufacturers and the lavash sheets vary greatly in size, you may need 4 sheets for the specified amount of ingredients.

I received very large sheets, so I even cut them in half.

Place the first sheet on the table and spread with a thin layer of mayonnaise. A large amount of mayonnaise can soak the pita bread too much and it will tear when folded, so don’t overdo it. Place lettuce leaves, previously washed and dried, on top over the entire surface.

Place half of the total amount of chicken on the salad. There is absolutely no need to cover it with a thick layer. It is the smoked chicken that will make the roll unusual and especially tasty.

Cover with a second sheet of lavash and brush a little more with mayonnaise.

Wash the cucumber, cut off the ends and cut into small strips using a vegetable cutter, or cut into thin long sticks with a knife.

Place half of the chopped cucumber on the pita bread. I recommend laying out the vegetable parallel to the side from which you will wrap the roll to get a beautiful cut.

Wash the pepper and tomato and dry. Cut the pepper into long thin strips, the tomato into thin slices. Place half of the pepper and tomato on a sheet of pita bread in the same way as a cucumber.

Vegetables will make the finished dish not only juicy, but also bright.

Finally, cover with a layer of grated cheese. You don’t need a lot of cheese, but it is advisable to use aromatic cheese so that its creamy taste is felt in the finished dish.

Now all that remains is to roll the pita bread into a tight roll. Do this carefully so that there is no empty space left when cutting.

Prepare another roll in the same way.

Wrap the rolls in plastic and put them in the refrigerator to soak for 2-3 hours.

5. Place a rectangular sheet of pita bread measuring 30 × 40 cm on the board. For greater reliability, you can use two sheets, stacking them on top of each other. Lubricate with a small amount of mayonnaise. Sprinkle with parsley leaves or other herbs. Do not overdo it with the sauce, as the roll may spread when slicing.
